Lead Trainer: Terrence Smith

trainer

Hello my name is Terrance Smith; I am born and raised here in Bryan/College Station. I have been actively involved in the fitness and sports industry my whole life. I take a very strong approach to training, based on the idea that nutrition and lifestyle play a major part in staying fit and healthy. I strongly believe that no matter how hard you train, you won't see the results you want unless you eat properly and maintain a balanced lifestyle.

As a personal trainer, my objective is to give you the knowledge and necessary tools to live a healthy lifestyle. I will help you understand how exercise and diet can greatly improve your overall quality of life. Consistency will be required of you to maximize your success. I will be there to encourage you every step of the way.

I will help you create an exercise program tailored to your personal goals and needs. We will shape your lifestyle through nutrition and exercise, producing dramatic results that last a lifetime. We'll refine your diet; deal with any obstacles on your path to success, and train... hard. You'll find it intense, but it'll be worth it, and you'll be a better person for it.

In addition to earning bachelor’s degree in 2009, I am also an ACE certified personal trainer and will be getting CrossFit certified in May 2012. Currently I am pursuing a Master’s degree from Texas A&M in Kinesiology with an emphasis in Sports Physiology. Originally from Hershey, Pennsylvania, I’m far from home here in the Lonestar State, but I’m enjoying life in Aggieland!

Getting you into the best shape of your life is going to require desire, dedication, and determination, not only from you but also from me. I’m invested in your goals and will motivate you to reach them. There’s nothing more enjoyable than reaping the benefits of your hard work. I am experienced in both individual and group training, and I have worked with clients of all ages and ability levels. With me, you will receive a personalized workout incorporating strength training, cardio, balance, and flexibility. I tell all of my clients, “If you don’t leave my workout tired, I haven’t done my job and you haven’t gotten your money’s worth.”

Not only will I give you a great workout, but I’ll also educate you about the most effective way to exercise and give you nutritional guidance. Achieving your goals will not just involve coming to a couple of workouts weekly; it will involve transforming your lifestyle into a healthy one, including a balanced diet, reduced stress, and increased activity. Are you ready to take the first step toward a healthier you? If so, I’m your trainer!

Lina V. Nilsen, CI-CPT

Personal Trainer

Hello, my name is Lina Nilsen. I obtained my certification in personal training from the accredited Cooper Institute in Dallas, Texas. I have a continuously expanding background in several areas of fitness. Growing up, I actively involved myself in sports and exercise. Currently, I am a dedicated member of the Texas A&M Powerlifting Team. I fall in the category of personality in which I must constantly have something to challenge me. The challenge I choose will, of course, be consistent with my personal goals in that point in time. In the future, I see my next challenge as competing in a figure or bodybuilding competition.

Throughout my life, I have acquired a passion for fitness and a true desire to inspire others to push their limits and exceed their potential. I have literally been my own experiment in discovering the proper way to maintain a healthy lifestyle. From the start of my fitness career, my belief system has undergone several changes and evolved into what it is today. Had I not encountered failure on my journey to success, my results would not have been the same. I tried, I failed, but then I tried again, and I succeeded. As a result of my own trial and error, I believe I have finally discovered the keys to success.

I have two simple rules to follow in order to achieve the results one desires. First, one must give 100% and do whatever it takes, as long as it is the healthy way. Hard work is the foundation for success; a direct correlation has been proven between how hard one works and the degree of benefits one receives. Second, I believe proper nutrition is 70% of the journey. Healthy bodies are made in the kitchen; eating clean, unprocessed, nutritious, whole foods will supply the body with the fuel it was meant to utilize and will also ignite its metabolism. I will use these rules as the basis for which I design your exercise program and propel you to reach your fitness goals.

I have a high intensity style of training, an inspirational coaching style, and a balanced nutrition philosophy. I will teach you how to educate yourself, chase perfection, practice diligence, learn determination, and through it all – see results!

Tanner Fedell

trainer

My name is Tanner Fedell and I am a certified personal trainer (CPT). I received my certification from the program whose founder created Aerobics. The Cooper Institute has been a leading force in physical health and exercise for decades, and I can use my training and my genuine passion for training to help you reach and exceed your goals. My objective is to help you achieve genuine fitness, not just the appearance of fitness. My methods are based on old ideas, new research, and creativity. There are no shortcuts! I will push you to reach and exceed what you thought were your limits. There is no substitute for hard work and dedication. If you don’t want to pay attention or work hard, then don’t bother showing up to go through the motions. Nothing can be gained by doing one thing with the body and another with the mind. Commitment, you either have it or you don’t. Saying you have it means nothing. Stress and hardship clarify commitment. The committed are aware and mindful every minute of everyday so they enjoy the results that such dedication and effort deliver. I invite you to demonstrate your own self-discipline and willingness to join us at Innovative Fitness as we move toward ultimate physical fitness.

Ryan Steinbrunner

Ryan trainer

Hello, my name is Ryan Steinbrunner. I am currently enrolled at Texas A&M studying Political Science and Spanish. I have spent the last two years playing football for Texas A&M and have had the opportunity to learn first hand both the meaning of hard work and the importance of living a healthy lifestyle. I have acquired a lot of experience in an intense working environment while being educated in nutrition and dieting. I grew up in a sports and exercise environment, playing football, basketball and running track throughout high school. Staying fit and eating right, while engaging in physical activity, have always been a personal goal of mine ever since I was a kid. I havelearned that life is much better lived when you’re active and in good shape. Although it takes serious motivation and energy to work out and stay active, the end results achieved carry over to every facet of your life creating a more positive, confident and outgoing you. I really look forward to working with you and motivating you to reach any and all goals that you may have! In return you will have the ability to pass on your results to someone else!

I Have Been There!

In high school I was heavily involved in sports and always active. It was not until I got to college that I began to struggle with my weight and activity level. I developed a hormonal imbalance from the stress of college and learning how to live life on my own. I began to make horrible eating choices and did not know how to work out effectively on my own, due to always being involved in team sports and being sheltered from a lot of the stresses of life.

My hormonal imbalance was spiraling out of control and I was a wreck. A very special person in my life helped me get motivated for healthy living and exercise, and helped me be accountable. I proceeded to take sugars out of my diet and anything that triggered depression. I focused on filling my body with fruits, vegetables, lean meats, foods that would fuel my body and mind. I educated myself on what foods were healthy and which foods made me feel sick. It took a year to get my hormones balanced and even then I had to work at being mentally strong and always aware of what I was putting in my body.

I took a spin class as one of my electives at Texas A&M and thus begun my transformation physically. You might be thinking, how can a spin class transform someone, well it gave me a starting point. I began to fall in love with fitness all around. If you have ever had a hormonal imbalance you know how hard it is to lose weight or feel good about yourself. I got a job with Gold’s Gym and was spinning or doing some sort of working out everyday but my body was still bloated and it felt like I was making no progress. It was very discouraging but once again I had to transform the way I viewed life and myself. I did not give up. I kept working out and I kept changing the way I was eating for the better and slowly but surely I saw results. I began teaching a weight lifting class called body pump as well as spinning classes. I was working hard at getting where I wanted to be but still not quite there. I could tell that my hormones were still off because instead of slimming down like I wanted my muscles got bulky.

In the midst of all this I got married and what do you know three months later I was pregnant? For someone who had just spent two years of there life trying to get there body and mind in a place where you felt great about yourself the thought of going through another hormonal and physical change. Well, let’s just say it threw me for a loop. I worked out every single day of my pregnancy and made strict rules for myself as far as eating healthily. Don’t get me wrong I believe in treating yourself but not everyday.

Adjusting to being a first time mom was frightening; it took me a good three months to where I even felt like working out at all, but I was determined. I fought past the nasty emotions and decided not to let the stresses of motherhood, being a good wife, school, and work keep me down. Nine months later I found myself in the best shape I had ever been in. It took shocking my body with different workouts, eating healthy, and being determined to have a positive outlook on life. When my daughter turned 18 months old my husband and I got another surprise, I was pregnant again. But it just gave me one more chance to prove that I could do it, and I am here to show you that you can do it too!
